Killeavy Castle Estate 2022 charitable partnership with local community group

- Posted on: 06/01/2022 - $itemValue.title

The Board and team at Bolster Community are delighted to announce a new Charity Partnership with the world-leading Killeavy Castle Estate. This is a very special partnership for Bolster Community after such a difficult time during the pandemic when fundraising opportunities have been at an all-time low. Bolster Community is a charity and social enterprise based in the heart of Newry that offers practical support for individuals and families, helping them to get through and get ahead.

Jacinta Linden, CEO of Bolster Community said “It has been a pleasure to work with Jason, Terry and their team on this emerging project. It is also very fitting that Killeavy Castle Estate is based in the heart of the Slieve Gullion area, as this is a region where we provide several services across the three areas that we support: Family, Ability and Seniors.

This project has been several months in the making, but the moment that we knew the partnership was meant to be when we realised that our brand logos are so similar. The logo for our Social Enterprise is the Acorn, which is a perfect match to Killeavy’s logo, the Oak Tree leaf, and this was just one of many synergies between the two organisations.

Together we are planning a host of interesting endeavours that will involve wonderful volunteers from right across our charity and social enterprise. Partnerships like this mean the world to us as it allows us to contribute even more to the people that need our services in the Newry, Mourne and Down region.

But possibly the most heartening of all aspects of this affiliation is that our Candlemakers are extremely excited to see the Acorn candle products which they produce in our workshop in Newry, displayed for sale in Killeavy Castle Estate, that will be a proud moment for them and their families.”

Terry Kelly, Sales and Marketing Manager, Killeavy Castle Estate said “Jason and I are very pleased to begin our Charity Partnership with Bolster Community throughout 2022. We were initially drawn to Bolster by their newly rebranded Acorn scent range and their keen focus on sustainability, as that is a key factor for us at Killeavy Castle Estate. However, once we learned more about the projects that they deliver in the local area through their charity and social enterprise we sincerely wanted to be involved.

The team at Killeavy Castle Estate are proud to be surrounded by such a magical landscape and a wonderful community. We work tirelessly with The Woodland Trust, the Forestry Service and Newry Mourne and Down District Council to increase the level of broadleaf trees planted in Slieve Gullion as it is very important for us that this area is restored to its former glory. For us, this partnership with Bolster Community opens up a new opportunity for us to give back and become an even greater part of the local community.”

Progress on the partnership will be covered on both organisations’ websites where you can follow along to see what the teams have been getting up to. In the words of a famous 14th Century proverb “Mighty Oaks – from little acorns grow” and that’s what we hope for this partnership.
