1. Where are you from, tell us a bit about your background?
I am originally from a small village called Dromara but currently live in Banbridge. I studied Events Management at the University of Ulster Coleraine and during this time I spent three years living on the beautiful North Coast. I travelled to America for my university placement and spent 8 months working in Palm Beach Florida and a further 4 months on Nantucket Island. Working within the hospitality industry in America gave me a new appreciation for customer service and cemented my passion for the sector.
2. What exactly does your position at Killeavy Castle Estate entail?
Within my role, I work with all guests who wish to host a special event at the Estate be it a wedding, conference or private gathering. It is my job to advise them of what we can offer at the Estate and to show them the fabulous facilities and function spaces we have available. I then assist the guests in the lead up to their event helping them to plan the finer details and always being available to answer any questions they may have. Prior to the event, I pass this information over to the operations team who deliver a wonderful event for each of our guests.
3. What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I love having the opportunity to meet different people and to be involved in the planning of such special occasions. It is amazing to be involved in the process from the initial stages of booking right through to the event itself and the great relationship that can be formed with guests throughout this time. Killeavy Castle Estate is a unique and quirky venue with so much history and it is a joy seeing peoples reactions when they walk through the front door of the Castle.
4. What do you love most about Killeavy Castle Estate?
I started at Killeavy Castle Estate prior to opening when it was still in the building process so it has been an amazing opportunity to see the Estate develop over the past 2.5 years and to watch guests fall in love with the beautiful facilities we have to offer. The ethos of the Estate in regards to homegrown produce, supporting local businesses and being environmentally sustainable is so admirable and it shows the owners dedication to investing in the area as a whole. Killeavy Castle Estate has a brilliant team of staff, it has been a pleasure working under Jason Foody his supportiveness and kindness filter through the team and makes it a truly wonderful place to work.
