- Posted on: 03/02/2022 -

Where are you from, tell us a bit about your background?

I am originally from Omagh, Co. Tyrone but relocated to Newry for my career. I studied Leisure and Events Management at Ulster University Coleraine for 3 years and completed a 9-month placement with Special Olympics in Belfast, which gave me the passion for all thing’s events. I started as a part-time Receptionist in Armagh City Hotel which led me to a full-time post as a receptionist here at Killeavy Castle Estate. I love to set myself goals, so when I started here I set myself the goal to attain a role in the Events Team. With hard work and dedication, I have achieved my goal as nearly a year ago I became the Events Coordinator.

What exactly does your position at Killeavy Castle Estate entail?

As an Events Coordinator, I work with all guests who wish to host a special event with us such as a wedding. Depending on the type of event, it is my responsibility to advise them of what we can offer at the Estate and show them the amazing facilities we have available. I assist all guests with the lead up to their event helping them with the finer details and answering any questions they may have. An important factor in this is keeping regular contact with the organiser so they can be confident that we have everything under control.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

I love the social and personal aspect of this job, being able to meet new people and being involved in the planning of such special occasions from the beginning right through to the event itself. It is very rewarding to watch events take place that I have assisted in planning and receiving such positive feedback from the guests.

What do you love most about Killeavy Castle Estate?

I started at Killeavy Castle Estate in October 2019, so it is very special to be a part of the first year of opening as it has been amazing to watch the Estate grow and develop over the past 3 years. I love everything that the Estate stands for with its sustainability ethos, from supporting local businesses to growing their own produce on their onsite farm and being environmentally sustainable in all practices. The staff at Killeavy Castle Estate are exceptional and that really shines through once you enter the Estate, it is great to read so many guest reviews comment on this, makes you proud to be part of something so great.

What is an interesting fact about you?

An interesting fact about me is, I competed in Irish Dancing competitively for 18 years and took part in the first-ever Riverdance Summer School and the first-ever Walled City Tattoo in Derry.
