1. Where are you from? Tell us a bit about your background.
I am currently a full-time student, studying management at Ulster University. I am from Killeavy originally and always knew Killeavy Castle as Bell’s castle growing up. With previous experience doing event security, night and day porterage as well as reception I feel I have a good understanding of people which ultimately helps me excel in my role.
2. What exactly does your position at Killeavy entail?
As part of my role as a Trainee Manager based in the Front Office, I work with our reception and Guest Services Team to deliver excellent customer service to our guests. Overseeing the delivery of our core values of respect, integrity, and teamwork, motivating our exceptional Front Office team to achieve the high standards we set for ourselves.
3. What do you enjoy most about your job?
No two days are the same in Killeavy, the willingness and support from Management to allow staff to learn and grow is what makes us unique. All staff are treated the same irrespective of title which builds the comradery making Killeavy Castle such a great place to work. The standard of service we aim to deliver relies on this comradery particularly in times of COVID which has made things difficult for all of us professionally and personally.
4. What do you love most about Killeavy Castle Estate?
The people. Killeavy Castle has given me many new professional relationships with so many wonderful people. The management team and experienced staff members have no problem passing on their knowledge or offering advice to help. We really do see ourselves as one big family and the love and affection I feel for the people and the grounds resonates with me every time I drive up the lane.
5. What is an interesting fact about you?
Currently, I am in the second year of my degree studying management and following my promotion to Trainee Manager at Killeavy Castle Estate, I always have something to do! On my rare days off and as we emerge from the pandemic I love to be at concerts and events. Since I was 18, I have worked as a steward and security at major concerts and festivals all over Ireland and the UK. My favourite concert would have to be Coldplay when they played Croke Park back in 2017.
