Where are you from, tell us a bit about your background?
I grew up in Warrenpoint but moved away when I went to college, but I moved back a few years ago when I started working at Killeavy Castle Estate. I have worked in different hospitality settings for 15 years.
What exactly does your position at Killeavy Castle Estate entail?
My position at Killeavy Castle Estate started as a Food and Beverage Assistant when we first opened.
I was fortunate to join the Killeavy team in the early stages of opening and this allowed me to gather great experience and be a part of something new and exciting that this area hasn't seen before. I got to work in the bar, the fine dining restaurant and as part of the banqueting team for our first ever wedding, it was amazing to be part of our Killeavy family then as much as it is today.
I am now the Breakfast Supervisor which means I'm there nice and early in the morning to set up for the day and to set guests up for the day with our amazing breakfast menu and buffet that we have to offer. It's lovely to hear all their experiences at Killeavy and share some of mine with the guests as we get to see our Irish wolfhounds walk past every morning and our stunning peacocks in the courtyard each morning.
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I love being a part of the family I have with my colleagues and the guests who stay with us. The setting, the hotel, the castle the views is an amazing environment to come work in. Every morning I get to see the sunrise over the mountains outside the breakfast room.
What do you love most about Killeavy Castle Estate?
I love the team I get to work with across the Estate and our farm to fork ethos shows off everything this part of the world has to offer regarding food and the amazing friendly staff. There's always something exciting happening.
When I came for my interview, I was blown away just by the driveway towards the Estate and it has changed a great deal from then but I still feel the same excitement every morning.
What is an interesting fact about you?
Before I came to Killeavy Castle I had never worked in a hotel environment just in different food and beverage or front of house settings, the experience and knowledge I have gained here have been amazing and I love being a part of the Killeavy team.
